Garlic Parmesan Focaccia
Garlic Parmesan Focaccia
Easy Garlic Parmesan Focaccia
How long it took me: 2 hours and 48 minutes
what you need:
4 cups of bread flour
2 & 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (this was a whole small packet for me(
2 teaspoons salt
1 & 3/4 cups of warm water
1/4 cup olive oil + 1/3 cup for drizzling
3-5 tablespoons minced garlic - depends on your preferenc
1 cup (or more!) parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp of black pepper
what to do:
In a big glass bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of salt, & 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast. (I use a fork to combine)
Then add 1 3/4 cups of warm water and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Using the fork, mix until a shaggy dough forms, then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic (hardest part - maybe could be easier in a kitchen aid with dough hook if you have!)
Place the dough in an oiled glass bowl (if you have!) , cover with plastic wrap, & let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size - mine took 1.5 hours. Then grease a baking 9 x 13 baking pan with olive oil. Put the dough in the prepared pan and stretch until it fills the pan. Press your fingers down into the dough to create the dimples. Then let rest again (covered with plastic wrap - or a dish towel) for 30 mins.
Once those 30 mins are over - pour some more olive oil aaaallll over that focaccia (I would say at least 1/3 if not more!). Put your minced garlic on top and using the back of a spoon wedge it into the dough - and then add your pepper on top.
Oven should be set to 425 degrees & once it is - put the focaccia in for 17 mins. Take focaccia out and then put the Parmesan cheese on top. Bake until golden brown (6-7 more mins you don’t want the parm to burn)!
